A RECORD attendance is predicted at the Mount Gambier Railway Lands on Sunday evening for the Blue Lake Lime FM Christmas Carols.

Last year around 8000 people flocked to the venue to take part in the annual Christmas tradition and event organisers are hopeful a record number of locals will jingle all the way to The Rail this year.

“We are expecting to equal or better our attendance from last year,” event coordinator Graham Gill said.

“We have a plethora of local talent and nationally renowned performers in this year’s lineup and fine weather has been forecast.”

Australia’s Got Talent finalist and 2015 Generations in Jazz vocal scholarship winner Liam Burrows will perform as this year’s special guest.

Louise Adams will also return to the carols stage as a special guest performer.

“Both Liam and Louise are renowned recording artists and exceptionally talented performers,” Mr Gill said.

“The show will also feature Jordanna Jones, who is a gifted young talent, the always popular Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and duo Ben Hood and Tamara Seeley, while Brett Pittard and Sugar Loaf will make their carols debut.

“It’s an eclectic mix of music, brought together by our gifted music director Jeannie Gryn.”

Comperes Danni Read and Simon Fisher will host the event.

Mr Gill said complaints about sound quality at the fringes of the venue during last year’s event had prompted changes to the speaker system.

“We have made a number of modifications to the sound equipment so the sound will carry better to the far end of The Rail,” he said.

“Our audio technician did a lot of research to get the system right.”

Mr Gill thanked his team of volunteers and local businesses for their generous contributions.

“Everyone involved in organising this event volunteers their time,” he said.

“Without these volunteers and the ongoing support of local businesses and Mount Gambier City Council, this Christmas tradition would not be possible.”
