THIS Friday night’s epic Pink Floyd extravaganza will be complemented by eye-catching animated works created by a South East photographer.

Experienced photographer Ralph Meznar has created a series of works which will appear as part of the Echoes of Pink Floyd performance at the Sir Robert Helpmann Theatre tomorrow night.

As a major Pink Floyd fan, Ralph requested to photograph the concept show in Mount Gambier back in April of 2015.

It was there he met the group behind the production of Echoes of Pink Floyd.

“I thought the show was incredible back then, I have loved Pink Floyd all my life and if you closed your eyes it felt like the real thing,” Ralph said.

“After the show, I met up with them all, they are a great bunch of Adelaide boys.

“From there we built a great relationship and I followed them around on tour shooting at a number of venues across the country.”

Ralph was then asked to create animated video footage for the band’s backdrop as part of the new show.

The setlist of iconic tracks from Pink Floyd’s The Wall album and beyond will be performed in front of a big screen featuring Ralph’s works.

Having taught video editing at TAFE SA from 2002 to 2005, Ralph gladly accepted the challenge to create animations to accompany 13 tracks in the show.

“It was great being able to put images to music I really love,” he said.

“For two years I worked on the project and once I saw it come together on stage, it was incredible, well worth it.”

Band bassist Mark Dole said Ralph was an asset to the Echoes of Pink Floyd team.

“Ralph is such a talent, what he can do is just amazing,” he said.

“He is an integral part of our visual presentation which accompanies the first half of the show, people will not only be musically stimulated, but visually entertained too.

“We love him to bits and cannot wait to catch up this weekend.”

Mark said the band had been looking forward to returning to Mount Gambier for some time.

“It has been two years now and we are bigger and better than ever before,” he said.

“This is our last show for the year so we hope we have a great crowd with high-energy for a memorable show.

“We have fully ramped up the show this time around, the first half of the show is dedicated to The Wall album and the second half will feature all of the greatest hits, so get keen.”

Ralph will team up with Mount Gambier’s Dean Devlin to shoot video of the live show in Mount Gambier tomorrow.
