SAINT Martins Lutheran College students’ creativity and artistic abilities will be showcased over the next two weeks as part of the school’s annual art show.

Following this year’s theme “a pigment of your imagination”, the students from foundation to Year 12 will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the popular exhibition.

The school is set to unveil the works tonight to the wider school community with judges Lauren Booth and Anne Carpenter first working through a set criteria to determine those that show outstanding artistic flair and creativity within different age groups.

Art teacher Jacinta Debrie-Delaney said the art show is a chance to celebrate students’ hard work and achievements, while also offering encouragement and inspiration to all.

“Seeing what high standards students can achieve within the arts area continuously inspires their peers to continue to harness their creativity and imagination, as well as assisting in building students’ desires to experiment with a wider range of mediums,” she said.

The art show has become increasingly popular since its inception with students submitting artwork individually, as well as their class work.

It has also led to an ever growing number of students electing to study visual arts in senior secondary levels.

Year 12 student Ebony McAdams proudly put her three art works on display yesterday in the lead up to the event and said art had become a key passion for her.

“I like being able to use my creativity to create a piece, it is a great sense of accomplishment now having them on display for the show,” she said.

“My three pieces are inspired by scenes in movies, my own photography and other artists’ pieces with each one taking a couple of months to complete.”

The St Martins Lutheran College art show, A Pigment of Your Imagination, will open to the public on Monday and remain available for viewing during school hours from 9am to 4pm until November 10.

The official launch will take place tonight in the school library from 6.30pm.
