CREATIVE members of the community are being invited to put their sewing skills to good use and take part in this year’s Recycled Runway event.

Raising money for local welfare organisation ac.care, the event gives people the opportunity to have some fun and transform a bag of pre-selected clothing into a creative new outfit.

This year, entrants will have five garments in their bag to make use of, making the task at hand a little easier and giving them more opportunity to create a winning entry.

Committee member Abby Von Duve has been involved in the Recycled Runway previously and said it is always a fun and worthwhile community event to take part in.

“There is always a great crowd of people who come to watch the runway event, they are fascinated by what is created,” she said.

“And all money raised from the event will go to people locally who need urgent support.”

Raising a total of $680 last year for ac.care, Ms Von Duve said they hope to double the amount this year.

“The event is always very popular, but we are keen to attract even more people,” she said.

Bags of clothing are available for collection from the Anglican Belltower Op-Shop Monday to Friday from 10am to 3pm.

Competition entry is $15, with $5 refunded upon completion of entry.

Entries must be completed by August 18 for judging with the runway fashion show taking place on August 26.
