CONDITIONS were far from ideal on Saturday when teams contested the Western Border Football League first semi finals at Island Park and the weather did not improve for the anticipated A Grade clash between West Gambier and East Gambier.

The Casterton Sandford home ground lived up to its name on the day, with players pushing their way through what could be described as a bowl of mud and water.
