Dog left in parked vehicle during heat wave

A DOG was left in a car at a Mount Gambier shopping centre on Sunday as the temperature peaked at 37 degrees.

Limestone Coast superintendent Grant Moyle said police were notified and attended the location immediately.

“Police received advice a distressed dog had been left in a car – a patrol attended the location, but the vehicle had already left, so they followed it up to the owner’s registered address,” Supt Moyle said.

“When police arrived the dog was fine, however officers gave the owner some advice about appropriate care.”

Supt Moyle said the incident served as a reminder to all residents that animals
