NOMINATIONS are now open for the 2017 Governor’s Multicultural Awards.
Multicultural affairs minister Zoe Bettison encouraged South Australians to nominate worthy individuals and organisations for the awards, which recognise and celebrate outstanding contributions to cultural diversity.
Migrants from non-English speaking backgrounds make up nearly 13pc of South Australia’s population.
Award categories include arts and culture, community sector, outstanding individual achievement, volunteer and youth.
Last year Mount Gambier volunteer Ann Pick was recognised for her ‘Open Door’ program, encouraging locals to open their homes to migrant TAFE cleaning course graduates.
