Scott claim memorial honours

WITH a busy program recently which included the August monthly medal, the second-to-last qualifying round for the club championship’s, third round of the President’s trophy and individual stroke and count putts competition, it was all happening at the Blue Lake Golf Club for the women.

The winner of the Marlene Lingham Memorial stableford trophy was announced, with vice-captain Geraldine Scott claiming the honours.

The best three of four round scores were used and Scott was delighted to have her name etched on the perpetual trophy in honour of her long-time golfing companion who passed away two years ago.

Sue Agars claimed a well-deserved monthly medal after signing for the score of the day.

Individual stroke winner in the third round of the President’s trophy sponsored by Scotty’s Loader Services Mount Gambier in Division 1 was Agars with an almost unblemished score card 91/23/68 four strokes under par to take top spot.

Agars had par’s on the second, fourth and fifth holes, with a gross of 49 but after a double bogey and bogey on the 10th and 11th it was full steam ahead parring the 12th, 13th, 14th and 15th to come home seven strokes less with gross 42.

Runner-up was Ronda Edwards 91/20/71 and with only one par and a run of bogeys on the outward nine she was left with a bit of work to do and did just that, with par’s on the 12th, 13th and 14th holes for consistent splits of 45 and 46.

Scott finished with 100/25/75.

A regular in the winner’s circle, Division 2’s Bev Pascoe was awarded the top voucher after a count-back from Lesley McPherson, both signing for nett 77.

Pascoe had a par on the fifth hole to finish with 109/32 and McPherson parred the 16th, for 111/34.

Karen Panagopolous and Lynette Hirth both finished with nett 79.

Nearest to the pin second shot winner’s were Annette Ford in Division 1 and Panagopolous in Division 2.

The pro-shot went to Agars.

The novelty event for the least putts, saw Rosemary Martland with 26 and Hirth 32 on a count-back from McPherson.

The annual Breast Cancer awareness fundraiser week will commence on Monday, September 13 and run through to Sunday, September 19.
