Consistent effort

CLEAR but cold conditions greeted 27 women for the Mount Gambier Golf Club monthly medal last week.

The greens were true but fast in the Peter Jennings Pumps sponsored event, while the conditions made it a touch tricky for the Janine Jenner sponsored putting competition.

Helen McIntyre claimed prestigious monthly medal for the second time this season with a score of 92-19-73, with a consistent 49 off-the-stick for both front and back nines, including an impressive birdie on the 16th hole.

Kathy Ewer has settled into her new golf course nicely and played consistently over the past few months.

She scored a 98-24-74 for second place and also had 49 off-the-stick for the front and back nines.

An unlucky Janina Morrison lost on a count-back for third place with 97-23-74.

Morrison was solid on the front nine, with 45 off-the-stick, but found the long, hard back nine a little tougher.

In the ball run-down Maxine McGregor, Faye Mainwaring, Jennette Braun and Jan Shanahan were successful.

The putting competition went to arguably the best putter in the club in Mainwaring, with just 30 putts.

The pro shot went to Vicki Clark, while the second shot to the Par 3 10th green went to A Grade’s McIntyre, B Grade’s Sue Coulter and C Grade’s Pauline Paterson.
