Big field for district foursomes

THE Golf South East Women’s District Foursomes were held at Bordertown on Monday, with 42 players competing from South East clubs, Bordertown, Beachport, Blue Lake, Keith, Kingston, Lucindale, Millicent, Mount Gambier, Naracoorte and Robe.

Teams who submitted the best gross score when playing in their respective Club Foursomes events were eligible to compete for the Champion of Champions.

Golf SE Women’s Foursomes Champion of Champions went to Millicent’s Kirsty Bailey and Mary Winser with a score of 86 off the stick, along with the Foursomes Championship gross event win.

The Foursomes Championship Gross Event runners-up were Bordertown’s Sharon Leigh and Karon Dinning with 87 off the stick.

The handicap win went to Bordertown’s Bink Barras and Kay MacKenzie with nett 74, ahead of Robe’s Heather Tucker and Anne Foreman with nett 77.5 on a count-back from Bordertown’s Chery Excell and Pauline Horne with nett 77.5.

Nearest to pin on the eighth hole went to Bailey, while Winser claimed the honour on the 11th hole.

The combined nearest to pin on the ninth hole was won by Naracoorte’s Di McCully and Robyn Hage, while the combined longest drive on the 15th went to Keith’s Brooke Rowsell and Mandy Stewart.
