THE National and State Indoor Archery Championships have been reinstated for 2021 after being cancelled in 2020 due to COVID restrictions at the time.
Blue Lake Archers have nominated to be one of the host venues for the championships which will be held at multiple venues on the weekend of July 10 and 11.
Meanwhile, Sunday afternoon’s dicey weather provided the perfect excuse to defer to the indoor venue and put in a round of World Archery 18-metre indoor to commence serious practice for the championship.
Three archers were available to compete, including Len Bayley who is now able to travel from Casterton to attend with the easing of cross-border COVID restrictions.
Bayley had not competed for a while and used the round to settle back into rhythm, beginning the process of pushing his level of accuracy back closer to where he would like it.
Ben Kilsby and Graham Lock were his companions on the indoor range.
Off-the-bow scores went to script, with Kilsby leading the way throughout the afternoon.
The adjusted scores showed a wider-than-normal spread, with Lock leading the trio home with an adjusted score advantage of 17 points over Kilsby at the final tally to win the day.
Indoor archery continues at Blue Lake Gymnastics Club, Malseed Park, Friday at 7.30pm followed by outdoor archery at Corriedale Park 12.30pm Sunday.
