Numbers down but competition strong

THE expected weather played its part in a par competition at the Millicent Golf Club last week, with just 10 women participating.

However, the day was kind to the competitors, with only one light shower of rain.

As numbers were low, prizes for one grade were awarded.

Sue Agnew had the best score of the day, ending up all square, ahead of Tracie Duldig with 2-down.

Kathy Webber, Val Williams and Bronwyn Clarke were all 3-down.

Williams won the nine-hole competition, played on the front nine, ending up all square.

Nearest to pin prizes went to Sue Agnew on the par 3 third hole, while the second shot for the 25 to 45 handicappers on the Par 3 fifth was won by newcomer Gail Stanley.

Duldig won the second shot to the par 3 17th hole for the 32 to 45 handicappers.

Competition for Wednesday, June 9 is the Shylie Rymill foursomes.

The club foursomes are played in conjunction and the leading eight pairs will qualify for match play.
