Oh Christmas tree, could be yours for free

A GREEN Triangle timber giant will give away pine trees this week, helping fulfil a deep-rooted Christmas tradition for some Limestone Coast families.

For the firth consecutive year, OneFortyOne will provide free, fresh pine trees to residents for their festive displays on a first come, first served basis.

The company’s Glencoe nursery and depots at Mount Gambier, Nangwarry and Mount Burr will open at 8am on December 10 and 11.

OneFortyOne estate manager Andrew Matheson said the annual Christmas Tree Giveaway – now in its fifth year – had given away hundreds of trees since instigated.

“Without a doubt the best part of the giveaway is seeing families arriving and picking the perfect tree together,” Mr Matheson said.

“Hearing people’s Christmas stories, and being able to provide something special for the community to take home is really why we do it.

“Christmas trees are a feature of celebrations with family and friends at this special time of year.”

People attending any of the four collection sites are reminded to be COVID safe by maintaining physical distancing and using the sanitiser provided.

Pine trees must also be safely and legally secured for transportation from the site.
