AVID motorcycle enthusiast Cindy Dyer is patiently waiting to cruise the Green Triangle again on her 2010 Yamaha XVS 1100 once border restrictions are lifted.

Whenever the sun is shining, Ms Dyer relishes the chance to roll out her custom cruiser and travel the region.

However, the impacts of COVID-19, particularly on cross-border activity, has given Ms Dyer little reason to renew its registration.

Ms Dyer said over the four years she had owned the bike, she had travelled the Limestone Coast extensively.

“There are only so many roads in South Australia you can ride and unless you stay overnight, which you can not afford to do all the time, it can get a bit boring,” Ms Dyer said.

“I am missing being able to ride in Victoria, especially when there is all this lovely weather.”

Ms Dyer said she discovered the bike in Ballarat when its head-turning custom paintwork caught her attention.

“My partner purchased a new Triumph cruiser and it made me want to get a new bike too,” she said.

We were planning on getting married, but I told him instead of paying $10,000 for a wedding, we could spend $10,000 on a new motorbike for me.

“I knew what he would choose and I would get my bike which is how we ended up with it.”

The bike is now nicknamed ‘wedding’.

Ms Dyer said the unique look of her Yamaha was a standout feature.

“I think it is a head-turner and I have actually won a trophy in a show and shine event,” she said.

“It has the look and the feel as a Harley, but being a Yamaha, it is easier to source parts, it is cheaper to run and I just think Harley Davidson is a name.

“Some Harley Davidson bikes I have seen are amazing, but I would just never own one myself.”

The bike has had Vance & Hines pipes installed and a butterfly air cleaner with its fuel tank painted in a factory Ford Falcon colour.

While it is her prized possession, Ms Dyer didn’t rule out selling the bike to a suitable buyer in the futrure as she was looking at purchasing her partner’s bike.
