YOU will not see another vehicle like this in Mount Gambier, according to owner John Petersen.

This 1985 Toyota LandCruiser has been Mr Petersen’s prized possession for the past six years after purchasing the vehicle from Craig Barrett Car Sales.

“I think it being a classic and in good condition is what appealed to me most,” he said.

“I have not really touched it since I have had it.

“I have added new tires and rims only because I had to.”

Mr Petersen said he liked the original colours of the vehicle, tying in with his Geelong football fan roots.

“I am a Geelong football fan, born and breed,” he said.

“I was not even thinking about it being blue and white until Craig brought it up.”

With the vehicle remaining in the South East its whole life, Mr Petersen said he has had the previous owners approach him to share their love of the LandCruiser.

“It was first purchased by the Clark family from Jeff Brown’s Motors – now Noel Barr Toyota,” he said.

“One of the Clark girls told me she grew up in it and was tickled pink when she saw it.

“I have kept it completely original with the limited-edition fiberglass removable top never being taken off once.”

Mr Petersen said the vehicle still has a long life left.

“I probably take it out once or twice a week just to keep the mileage down,” he said.

“It has done very low mileage for a four-wheel drive at its age.

“New cars would not be able to keep up with it considering how well it goes.”

Despite his love for the vehicle, Mr Petersen said he no longer had the time or room for the vehicle and would look to sell it.

“I will not just sell it to anybody and am looking for the right owner,” he said.

“It needs a bit of tender-loving-care.

“I hope the next owner looks after it as well as I have.”
