Bulldogs bite back against Cats

HISTORY repeated itself on Saturday at Malseed Park, when East Gambier defeated Casterton Sandford in the A Grade Western Border football preliminary final.

The Bulldogs gave themselves a chance to claim back-to-back premiership titles after a gutsy win over Cats, as they did in last year’s preliminary final, but this time the game went down to the wire.

As expected it was a tough contest, with the minor premiers controlling more of the play on the day, but inaccurate kicking would come back to haunt them late in the game.

The reigning premiers struggled to keep pace with the Cats, leading slightly at the first break, but behind the ledger from there until late in the game.

In the end they claimed the contest by a handy 19 points, with the season now set for
