MEMBER for Mount Gambier Troy Bell will contest the upcoming state election and has vowed to continue to fight for the best interests of the electorate.

Declaring his political intentions yesterday, Mr Bell announced he would stand for re-election despite facing a string of charges relating to the alleged $2m misappropriation of taxpayer funds.

The 44-year-old announced his decision just days after appearing in Mount Gambier Magistrates Court for a procedural matter relating to his upcoming trial.
