Iconic city businesses honoured

FURNITURE retailer Eddies, health provider Hawkins Medical Clinic and iconic homewares store DJ Interiors have been named as the hall of fame inductees for the upcoming Mount Gambier Chamber of Commerce Outstanding Business Awards.

More than 100 businesses have been nominated across 10 categories for the chamber’s prestigious 2017 awards.

Forty people will vie for the outstanding employee of the year, which will once again be a tightly contested category.

“The awards celebrate and recognise the wonderful businesses we have in Mount Gambier and acknowledge their contribution to employment and the economy,” chamber president Lynette Martin said.

More than 400 people are expected to attend the gala awards on October 13.

“I congratulate the three businesses that have been announced as the hall of fame recipients, they are worthy winners and have been part of the city’s business landscape for many years,” Ms Martin said.

Explaining there were a number of new award categories this year, the business leader said the accolades provided a high-profile platform for businesses to promote their achievements.

Ms Martin has reminded all nominees they need to submit an online form by Friday, September 8.

“It is an easy, simple process,” she said.
