EAST GAMBIER V SOUTH GAMBIER

THE battle of the cellar dwellers takes place on Saturday in Round 10 of Western Border football.

East Gambier hosts South Gambier in what will be a tight contest at the Kennel.

The Bulldogs are yet to taste victory in season 2023, while the Demons have achieved that goal only once.

Back in Round 5 the two sides faced off at Blue Lake Sports Park and Demons claimed a hard-fought, come-from-behind victory to the tune of 10 points.

South trailed at every break, with East looking the goods at the long break, with a handy 11-point advantage in the low-scoring affair.

The Demons reduced that to just two points at the final break then went on to win.

Only Brayden Kain kicked multiple goals for the Demons, with two majors, while for East, Riley Flamank kicked four in a losing side.

Both sides have improved as the season has unfolded, with the Bulldogs coming off a three-point defeat at the hands of North Gambier.

However, South is in a similar situation, with the Tigers losing to West Gambier by just four points.

That was a tough day for football and the weather does look like easing a bit.

Either way this will be a tough challenge for both sides, with East surely chasing the win to have a chance to move off the bottom rung of the ladder, but South will not want to lose its fifth place.

Regardless of the outcome, it will certainly be an exciting game, despite both sides’ respective position.
