Coonawarra stomps with vintage

THE stage is set once again for the DiGiorgio Family Wines vintage stomp where 10 teams will compete for the prize of $1000 and a selection of DiGiorgio Family Wines.

A total of 10 teams are set to compete in fierce competition on April 8 for the prize money to be donated to a charity of the winning team’s choice.

Each team will consist of five people plus a personal referee for the relay-style event.

Teams will be required to fill two wine bottles with grape juice after taking turns to collect grapes from the vineyard.

After four buckets are filled, designated ‘stompers’ will proceed to crush the grapes until the juice is prepared to fill the bottles.

After the event’s 18th year, Nutrien’s team will have a year-long break after being inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Managing director Frank DiGiorgio said the event has been cemented into the After Dark calendar to combine the fun and tradition.

“While team bookings are essential, spectators are encouraged to make the most of the free entry by joining in on the fun and cheering for the team of their choice,” Mr DiGiorgio said.

Lumberjack’s Low and Slow barbecue will also be available during the night as well as coffee and wine options.

Following this event, Zema Estate and Brands Laira will also be hosting their own After Dark occasion on Friday night followed by Raidis Estate on Saturday night.

DiGiorgio Family Wines will be open from 5pm with the stomp set to begin at 6.30pm on Friday, April 8.
