Big numbers for Bay netballers

TWO Port MacDonnell netballers reached impressive milestones on the weekend, with Narelle Lewis and Belinda O’Dine both playing their 350th game.

Lewis has enjoyed a stellar netball career.

Starting juniors in 1996, she progressed to the 13’s in 1998, where she won best and fairest in 1999 plus a premiership in 2000 with the 15’s.

She made her senior debut in 2004 and won the best and fairest in A Reserve for two seasons.

After having a couple of seasons off due to the birth of her two daughters, Lewis returned in 2010 as playing coach of B Grade, won the premiership and was runner-up best and fairest, with several more runner-up best and fairests to come in that grade.

After having the 2013 season off for the birth of her son, Lewis played B Grade, then the next season in A Reserve and claimed another best and fairest.

In 2015, she was promoted to A Grade and has been a consistent A/A Reserve player up until her 350 games with the club.

She has also coached the A Reserve several times, winning the 2019 premiership.

Lewis started coaching with the Under 15’s in 2004, progressing onto the B Grade in 2010 and 2011, Junior 2 in 2015 and A Reserve in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2021.

She has had a position on the committee from 2012, from a committee member to vice-president to president.

Lewis has always been an active supporter of the club from committee commitments, umpiring, coaching, playing, working bees and any other job in between that need doing.

With the backing of family, husband Dean, daughters Sophie (15’s), Bailee (13’s) and son Brock (U/12 football), the club would like to congratulate Lewis on her 350 games.

O’Dine began her netball with the Port MacDonnell Netball Club in 1995.

She started her competitive netball in 1998 and for the next five years she played in grand finals, only securing a premiership in 15 and Under in 2000.

In 2004 O’Dine started her senior career in the A Reserve.

She played in the 2009 A Grade premiership, the 2010 runner-up A Grade premiership as well as the recent 2019 A Reserve premiership.

O’Done has coached 13 and Under, 15 and Under, 17 and Under and A Reserve.

Ahe has also been on the committee and served as secretary and treasurer.

O’Done is supported by her husband Ben and boys Lenny and Judd.

The club congratulates O’Done on 350 games.
