Bulldogs push on

Men: Bulldogs 82 (S. Berkefeld 23, B. Young 18) d Cougars 69 (T. de Wit 31, M. Kuot 17).

THE two top sides in the men’s South East Coast Basketball competition faced off in Round 8 of the season last week.

There was plenty on the line, with Cougars looking to close the gap to the undefeated Bulldogs.

Toby de Wit continued his high-scoring season as he managed to slice his way through the Bulldogs’ defence as well as find his touch from range.

The Bulldogs managed to have four players in double figures, led by Simon Berkefeld with 23.

In the end Bulldogs were too strong and claimed a comfortable victory.

Women: Saints 56 (P. Venn 15, M. Pulmer 15) d Cougars 46 (E. Dawe 18, M. Horrigan 13).

In the women’s competition, Cougars faced a tough Saints outfit without leading scorer Sarah Ritter.

Emily Dawe stepped up and led the way for Cougars with 18 points.

Young Saints star Poppy Venn was influential with 15 points.

The win keeps Saints in touch with a top-two finish.

Bulldogs/Roos 52 (M. Griffith 16, S. Adams 12) d Panthers 37 (T. Bryant 12, N. Facey 9).

Bulldogs/Roos managed their second win of the season against Panthers.

In a low-scoring game Panthers were held to 37 points as they struggled to find and make open looks.

Young star Macey Griffith topped scored with 16 points for the Roodogs, using her speed and driving ability to find openings.

Siobhan Adams continued her positive season as she created scoring opportunities for her teammates as well as scoring 12 points of her own.

Tara Bryant led Panthers with 12 points and was well supported by Nikeisha Facey with nine.
