SHORT-COURSE golf continued at the Blue Lake Golf Club last week, with the fourth round of the Grant and Dianne Perryman sponsored event.
A dedicated group of women teed off and were only interrupted by a couple of light showers, with all back in the clubhouse relatively dry.
In Division 1, winner Dianne Perryman and runner-up Josie Ashby look to have mastered the short course, both with wins in two of the four rounds.
Perryman played to her 10 handicap for 36 points, scoring 20 on the front nine which included five pars and a four-point birdie.
The back nine proved more difficult with pars on the 10th and 16th holes, plus a wipe on the 12th, but she quickly gained the points back with a four-point birdie on the 13th to finish with 16 points.
Ashby was off to a slow start, also off a 10 handicap and only picking up three pars on the front nine for 14 points.
On the turn trouble loomed after a wipe the 10th and 11th.
Ashby is known to put her head down and dig deep when needed and she did just that with a birdie on the 12th, then pars on five of the last six holes to finish with 16 points.
In Division 2 it was Lynette Hirth’s second win playing the short course.
Splits of 14 and 12 were enough to get her over the line after a count-back from Lucy Richards, who also had her second time in the winner’s circle.
Both carded 26 points.
Richards scored 16/10, the back nine proving to be her nemeses.
Nearest to pin second shot winners on the par three 14th hole were Bev Pascoe in Division 1 and Fay Price in Division 2.
The pro-shot on the downhill par three fifth was won by Karen Panagopolous.
