Huge night out for de Wit

Men: Cougars 89 (T. de Wit 53, D. Kuring 14) d Roos 69 (M. Bachmann 23, C. Bachmann 19).

IT was the Toby de Wit show from the start as Cougars claimed a comfortable victory over Roos in Round 6 of the South East Coast basketball winter season.

De Wit hit a three-point bomb to oppen proceedings before going on to finish with a huge game-high 53 points.

Roos managed to keep the game scrappy and even after the first quarter, with both sides sitting on 12 points, but de Wits then foun dhis range in the following three terms and Roos had no answer as he sliced his way through their defence to find openings at will.

Mark Bachmann showed his class for the Roos with 23 points in the 20-point loss.

Panthers 54 (R. Hein 16, O. Thompson 16) d Saints 44 (H. Mules 12, B. Wilson 11).

Panthers secured back-to-back wins in a low-scoring game against Saints.

Both teams struggled to find openings and easy shots as the defence dominatedt

Rob Hein and Oli Thompson came up big with 16 valuable points each for Panthers, while young star Harry Mules worked hard for his 12 points for Saints.

Women: Cats 90 (L. Denton 37, G. Winter 36) d Cougars 54 (E. Dawe 17, C. Horrigan 14).

Cougars suffered their first loss of the season with a big defeat at the hand of Cats.

Cats were on a mission and increased their lead at every break for a dominant 36-point victory.

Much of that came off the hands of youngsters Lucy Denton (37 points) and Georgia Winter (36 points) who were simply too strong for the Cougars defence to contain.

Emily Dawe had a spirited 17 points for Cougars.

Bulldogs/Roos 84 (E. Bouchier 24, S. Adams 21, M. Griffith 16) d Saints 46 (E. Easterby 13, P. Venn 12)

Bulldogs/Roos claimed their first win of the season with a big score against Saints.

Ellie Bouchier led all scorers with 24 points and was well supported by Siobhan Adams with 21.

The game was set up by an incredible 16 to 0 first quarter, as Bulldogs/Roos did not give Saints any time or space.

Young Saints stars Eadie Easterby and Poppy Venn showed their value, combining for 25 points.
