Alan Richardson reappointed to RDALC

FORMER radio personality Alan Richardson will continue his role as Regional Development Australia Limestone Coast (RDALC) regional chair after being reappointed for a three year term.

First appointed in 2015, Mr Richardson hopes to use his term to push for programs that will improve the environment and industry sustainability within the Limestone Coast.

This includes advocating for the reinstatement of a freight rail link between Mount Gambier and Heywood, which Mr Richardson believes will reduce the number of trucks present on regional roads – improving road safety while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Asked whether he would continue as deputy chair at the end of his current three year tenure, Mr Richardson said this was likely his last term.

“I’m now 70 years old, I think after the next three years… that’s probably enough, let somebody else take it on,” he said.

But for now, Mr Richardson is looking forward to continuing his work with the RDALC.

“It’s been a real pleasure working with a good board and a great staff at the RDALC and I look forward to continuing that,” he said.

RDALC chair Evan Flint welcomed the reappointment and the expertise Mr Richardson will continue to bring to the role.

“Alan is a committed member of the Limestone Coast community,” Mr Flint said.

“His depth of knowledge and of regional issues, his economic intelligence and industry experience have been invaluable to the RDALC in its work supporting economic development across the region.”
