Mount Burr 51 d Glencoe 38
A HARD fought contest played out between Mount Burr and Glencoe in Round 2 of Mid South East netball in what was arguably the match of the round.
Glencoe started strong and hit the scoreboard with accurate shooting from Malinda Markewics and Caitlin Hentenschke.
Glencoe’s pressure down court caused numerous unforced errors by Mount Burr, with the scoreline at the first break 14-11 in favour of the Murphies.
With Ash Edwards out with a calf injury, Glencoe struggled to find form in the second quarter, which was further exploited by Mount Burr’s Laura Schultz, Ann Guyett and Ella Falting when Donna Jaeschke went off with blood leaving the WA position unmanned for two centre passes.
Strong rebounding from Heidi Clark and Madi Haggett under the post and some timely intercept from Ann Guyett and Laura Schultz caused a 10-goal turn around in the second quarter.
Mount Burr continued to build in the third term through accurate shooting from Ebony Clark and Sarah Nulty, despite strong defensive efforts from Sarah Edwards, Emily Thompson, and Rebecca Edwards.
Glencoe’s quick transitions down court and accurate feeds from Donna Jaeschke and Laura Edwards into Caitlin Hentschke at the post was difficult for Mount Burr to stop, with both teams scoring 13 for the quarter.
Ebony Clark stood strong in the final term, taking ownership over the goal circle while Haggett and Heidi Clark kept Markewics to just one goal.
Overall it was a strong defensive game which could have gone either way, but Mount Burr was able to hold strong and claim the win.

Robe 73 d Nangwarry 41
NANGWARRY hosted Robe and made a few changes from last week’s lineup but started off slow, with the Roosters pouncing on the opportunity.
Goal attack Tori Gluyas moved ans shot well in the circle to make Carly Ploenges work hard in defence.
At the other end, the Saints’ new goalie combination of Cassie Dinnison and Angela Pratt worked overtime to try and find space from the pressure and work rate of Alana Campbell and Georgia Perkins, but Robe set up a handy nine-goal lead at the first break.
Nangwarry swapped Hayley Burner and Kylie Heaver in the second term but it did not stop Robe’s drive.
The Saints did score from their limited opportunities, but passing and poor decisions let them down.
Campbell, Perkins and Sammy Telfer continued to apply the pressure, which brought unforced errors from Nangwarry and the margin blew out to 20 goals at the main break.
Nangwarry reversed its earlier change for the third term, while Pratt and Dinnison started to find space in the goal circle.
Robe still won the term but hard work from Ploenges saw a better performance from the home side.
The final quarter started goal-for-goal, but Robe soon took the upper hand and ran out convincing winners.
Tantanoola 64 d Kongorong 28
Tantanoola used its home court to advantage against Kongorong for a big victory.
It all started with the first centre pass resulting in a goal to the home side, but both sides turned the ball over early.
Steadying play by Tantanoola’s Vic Lucas and Casey Walker saw the hosts settle and take a 13-goal lead to the first break.
Tantanoola made a few changes for the second term, with Maddi Kelly stepping on court for her first A Grade match.
Kongorong defenders Ella McIntyre and Emily Lightbody worked hard in the circle to stop Tantanoola’s drive into the ring, but Emma Gould proved too strong under the ring and the Tigers led by 26 at the main break.
Kongorong swung major changes around the court for the third term, but Tantanoola’s Jami Walker and Gould shot 18 from 20 attempts for the quarter to extend the lead.
In the end Tantanoola was simply too strong around the court and claimed a comfortable victory.
