WINDY conditions and the occasional shower did not deter seasoned shooters at the Mount Gambier Gun Club’s monthly competition on Saturday.
The opening event was the NUTRIEN Ag Solutions 25 target Skeet Handicap and with his fine marksmanship, Tristan McKinnon won with a score of 68/68.
He finished ahead of Dougal Simson 67/68, Warren Lindner 63/64, Gavin Height 57/58 and Kevin Mules 48/49.
The Carlin and Gazzard 25 target Club Single Barrel Championship tried out the shooters expertise but was well shot.
The windy conditions and a couple of heavy downpours caused results to be a bit lower than normal, but Ken Atkin shot a perfect 25/25 for the overall victory, along with AA Grade, ahead of Warren Lindner 24/25.
Andrew Jenkins 21/25 claimed A Grade from Graham Facer 20/25, Heather Ryan 18/25 edged out Garry Bowd 17/25 to win B Grade and Peter Klieve 21/25 won C Grade from Hamish Keatley 20/25.
The Blue Lake Golf Club 25 target Double Barrel Championship was the last event and was keenly shot, with some shooters attaining perfect scores resulting with shoot-offs to finalise results.
Darren Beyer 44/44 won AA Grade from Jesse Murrell 47/48, Andrew Jenkins 25/25 won A Grade from Dale Robertson 35/37, after a shoot-off Tristan McKinnon 36/38 claimed the B Grade win from Heather Ryan 35/38, while Bernadette Peters 21/25 won C Grade from Hamish Keatley 19/25.
The South East Autotrade Highgun award was won by Ken Atkin with an exceptional score of 72/75.
The next competition will be held on May 8.
