SOME close contests played out in Round 6 of Millicent Squush.
The match of the night in Division 1 saw the hard hitting of Mark Wright up against the deft placement of Brenton Abbott.
Wright took the first two games 15-10 and 15-11 to set the scene for a comfortable victory but Abbott worked his way back into the competition and took the third and fourth games 15-10 and 15-11.
However, Wright had more fuel in the tank and overpowered Abbot in the fifth game 15-11 for the win.
The final point scores for the match had Wright on 66 and Abbott 62.
The Division 2 match of the round was between Fiona Oliver and Mick Millhouse.
The first game was an indication of how good this match was going to be with Millhouse claiming the win after an epic 19-17 result.
Millhouse took the second game 15-10, then Oliver found form in the third to win it 15-8 and also the fourth 15-12.
Millhouse had his opportunities in the fifth game but could not make the most of them and finally succumbed to Oliver 15-10.
The point scores for the match had Oliver on 72 and Millhouse 64.
