Title crosses border

RUNNERS-UP: Andy Ashby and Rex Heins receive their prizes as runners-up of the George Adams Tournament from Mount Gambier RSL vice president Nancye Wilson.

THE annual George Adams Men’s Pairs competition was held at the Mount Gambier RSL Bowling Club, with bowlers from around the Limestone Coast and Victoria competing and some impressive skills on display.

The format was three games of 12 ends on the Saturday and two games of 12 on the Sunday before the four best performing pairs were drawn in semi-finals.

The semi-finals and finals were played over five ends.

In the semi-finals the RSL pair of Rex Heins and Andy Ashby faced the RSL/Mount Gambier pair of Ben Masters and Adam Wilson, with the Heins/Ashby combination winning a close encounter eight shots to six.

The other semi-final saw RSL’s Phillip Wilson and Brenton Wittwer play the Portland RSL pair of Greg Hoggan and Graham Solly.

The Portland pairing advanced to the final with a 6-0 victory.

The final saw the Portland pair storm away from their opponents with a a strong 12-0 win.
