Seaside team claims fours

ROBE Bowling Club claimed an emphatic victory in the Lower South East Bowls Association Championof Champions Fours competition.

David Robinson, Errol Jennings, Robin Ling and Paul Truelove travelled to Mount Gambier RSL to compete in the championships, with some impressive bowling along the way.

First up they defeated neighbours Beachport convincingly, then Lucindale and then Mount Gambier RSL for the right to play Naracoorte in the decider.

The Robe team kept up their concentration and good play and had an impressive win over Naracoorte.

The Robe Community Bank Twilight Bowls has concluded, with the weather kind for the final night.

The weekly winners of the bar vouchers was the Bowl Breakers and runner-up was Matt’s Plumbing.

Touchers were won by Andrew Lawrie, Colin Russell, Emma Brooks, Russell Vorwerk, Jack Edwards, Karla Hondow, Rosalie Mader and Carol Bennett.

After coming last for most years and recruiting some new talent both in the bank and on the greens, were the sponsors The Robe Community Bank on 79 points.

Runners-up was Team Boyong with 69 points on a count-back from the Robe Golf Club.

Thursday social bowls was sponsored by the Caledonian Inn and there were two two-game winners, but winning the voucher with 54 points were Robbie Lawrie and Chris Davidson.

Runners-up on 53 points were David Robinson, Wendy Leopold and Valma Jennings.
