Summer Trophy heats up

THE second round of the Sorrentos Cafe Summer Trophy at the Blue Lake golf course saw an early start due to the predicted warm weather.

Four of the six winner’s were among the early morning starter’s, with Division 2s Dianne Allen having the top score of the day for the second week in a row with 38 points.

The result placed her in the lead for the trophy with six points already in the bag.

Allen will be face another drop in her handicap before her next game.

Division 1 winner Cherryl Hill also had an impressive 37 points.

A slow start on the front nine only producing 16 points was improved on the back nine with 21 which included par’s on the 11th, 12th and 14th holes.

Second place went to Ronda Edwards five shots behind with 32 points which included just one par on the fifth hole and splits of 18/14.

Third place went to captain Helen Myers with 31 points, as she managed to par the 11th, 12th and 16th holes for splits of 16/15.

Allen won Division 2 after her consistent round, with splits of 19/19 which included six three-pointers.

Second was Trudy Herbert with a close 37 points, with four three-pointers, no scrubs and splits of 16/21.

Third went to Carol Melhuish with 31 points, four three-pointers and a four-pointer but unfortunately there were too many double bogeys, for splits of 16/15.

The pro-shot on the par 3 fifth hole went was Lesley McPherson.
