MOUNT Gambier North Primary School students celebrated International Friendship Day last week and created ‘warm fuzzies’ for friends, teachers and fellow students.
The day is traditionally celebrated with festivities including making and giving friendship bracelets and friendship flowers dating back as far as 1919 in the United States of America.
Students made the day their own by creating their fuzzy well-being creatures, an initiative led by school well-being team member Narelle Ryan.
Each creature is a note of thanks for the recipient, which were delivered by Ms Ryan herself.
“We want every child to feel happy and safe which is why we celebrate friendship day,” Ms Ryan said.
“Friendships and acts of kindness help to create a healthy and happy learning environment for students with the learning experience for students always more fulfilling with positive relationships in a student’s life.
“Thankfully the warm fuzzies have proven to be popular among students with teachers and staff often receiving them from the students too.”
