Wattle Range mayor recognises student achievements

STUDY COMMITMENT: Penola High School Year 11 student Ella Hutchesson received the Learning Success Award from Wattle Range Mayor Des Noll.

WATTLE Range Council has highlighted youths across the local government area as part of its 2020 Youth Recognition awards ceremony.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the award presentation was recently held at Penola’s Visitor Information Centre.

Wattle Range mayor Des Noll presented the awards, with one current and one former Penola High School student awarded in their respective categories.

Penola High School Year 11 student Ella Hutchesson received the learning success award for commitment to her studies.

Ella chose challenging subjects this year in preparation for a defined career path and has achieved excellence in each of them.

She maintains a high standard of work across all subjects and actively seeks feedback on ways to improve.

Former Penola High School student Emily Winter received the contribution to the community award for her participation within and beyond the school community.

Emily runs the Net Set Go netball program for 5-10 year olds and has instigated involving Penola High School student volunteers.

She is the McCorquindale Park management committee secretary and made a major contribution to the Pink Up Penola event, including working on administration and social media.

During her Penola High School studies, Emily’s leadership led her to be elected as Student Representative Council president.
