NEW NAME SAME BUSINESS: Riddoch Business and Community Association committee members Simone Kain and Nicole Reschke with president Rebecca Trotter (centre) celebrate the collaboration.

TWO Penola collectives have joined forces to form a united representative body – the Riddoch Business and Community Association (RBCA).

The landmark coming together of the Penola and District Business and Tourism Association and Penola Town Planning Committee hopes to give Penola and Coonawarra a stronger foothold for future investment and community development.

Riddoch Business and Community Association president Rebecca Trotter said the association would serve Penola, Coonawarra and neighbouring areas.

“Wattle Range Council indicated they wanted to liaise with one main body in our council ward which made sense to us all,” Ms Trotter said.

“After discussion, it was evident that both town associations had the same goals for Penola and Coonawarra, which was to create a stronger and innovative business sector while strengthening our community for generations to come.

“We are really excited to have the support of the Wattle Range Council and look forward to working closely with them and our elected members as a united voice for business and community in our council ward.”

The association will support all industries including tourism, wine, education and agriculture, while representing individuals and community groups, such as sporting and service clubs and National Trust.

“We are driven to progress the entire Riddoch Ward to ensure we have great community services, infrastructure and amenities for all,” Ms Trotter said.

“That way ensuring that we enjoy the best quality of life that comes from living in a charming but innovative regional town such as Penola.”

The newly-formed group is currently collaborating with the McCorquindale Park Management Committee to secure government funding and improve facilities.

“It was fantastic to have the support of the Riddoch Business and Community Association to assist in our grant application,” McCorquindale Park committee chairperson Josie Abbey said.
