ALL six Millicent charity shops have resumed trade in the past week after an enforced three-month closure due to the COVID-19 virus.
The last to reopen its doors was the Salvos thrift shop on Tuesday.
In recent weeks, the closed signs have also come down from the Lifeline store, Vinnies, Lioness bookshop and the Seventh Day Adventist shop.
A newcomer to Millicent is the Walnut Shop which raises funds for prostate cancer research.
Vinnies volunteer Paulie Watts said she was pleased to resume the role which she started 25 years ago.
“The pay has not changed in all that time,” Ms Watts joked.
“It is lovely to be back.
“I spend a full day per month in the Vinnies shop and cover some absences as well.
“We have about 15-20 volunteers on the shop roster..
“Vinnies is there to support those in need with food and furniture.
“At present, we are doing our counselling via phone.
“We have had a steady flow of customers through the shop.”
Ms Watts spent one of her months away from Millicent on family duties in Adelaide.
“My youngest child Maree gave birth to her fourth child.
“I helped with the home schooling of her three other children and they are aged ten, seven and five.”
