THE Park Hotel management has praised ongoing community support as they continue to be inundated with takeaway orders amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Forced to close its doors to patrons on March 23 when Federal Government restrictions came into effect, the Commercial Street West licensed venue has found new ways to keep revenue turning over.
After condensing the menu and joining the www.lcfeed.me website, manager Amanda Otter said operators have been overwhelmed by community support.
“We have been testing a few different menus and everyone has really got behind us, particularly our schnitzel night on Thursdays,” Ms Otter said.
“Trading in terms of meals has actually been quite close to what we would do if we were open, so word of mouth has obviously gone around the community.”
She said it was heartening a number of the hotel’s “regular customers” had been putting their orders in for a meal each week.
“We have a great contingent of people who support us regularly when we are open and they have really got behind us with the takeaway since the restrictions were put in place,” she said.
“We try to use enviro-packs to send our takeaway in and it just keeps so well and the feedback has been amazing.”
In addition, Ms Otter said trading at the bottle shop had remained steady over the past few weeks
“It’s been a strange adjustment, but we are doing really well in the bottle shop as well, so it has been okay.”
“It is a hard time for a lot of businesses and we are just fortunate that ours is one that can keep surviving,” she said.
Ms Otter said she was proud of the group and staff for adapting in unprecedented times to continue to serve the community, despite not being able to open the doors.
“We are definitely proud the meals are so great that people want to come back and that we have been able to meet their needs,” he said.
“Also just being able to establish that client base and knowing they want to support the business fills everyone with a bit of pride.”
