LIMESTONE Coast residents joined high-ranking South Australian police officials on Saturday night to raise funds for the Stand Like Stone Foundation.
The 20-piece Band of South Australia Police performed on the Rymill Hall stage for over 100 attendees who donned their best outfits for the night.
Organised by Penola Swinging with the Stars representative Laura Price and Penola police station officer-in-charge Leo Price, the dynamic duo’s efforts to raise funds for the Limestone Coast not for profit organisation has been hailed a success.
A number of key police figures were present at the event including Commissioner Grant Stevens, South Australia’s Deputy Commissioner Linda Williams and Assistant Commissioner Ian Parrott.
Limestone Coast Police superintendent Phil Hoff and Inspector Campbell Hill also attended the event.
Ms Price said the evening went well and the community was eager to have the band return for future performances.
“I cannot fault the night and am so grateful for the generosity of the community,” Ms Price said.
“It is so nice to know the community is behind me with this and to do one of the first fundraiser events for Swinging with the Stars is so special.
“I am also looking to host a number of smaller fundraisers as well.”
Ms Price participated in her first dance lesson in preparation for the mammoth event.
“It was the most fun I have had in a while and the people taking part in the event this year are so supportive,” she said.
“We all cannot dance but are learning together.”
Leo Price said he was overwhelmed by the positive feedback received from attendees.
“With just over 100 people attending it was a good sized crowd,” Mr Price said.
“Everyone who went had a good night out and I was really happy with how it went.
“All of the feedback I have had is what a fantastic night it was with the police band knowing how to entertain a crowd.”
Mr Price said a number of guests praised the police band’s performance.
“People were surprised at how good they were,” he said.
“Everyone of all ages enjoyed themselves and the locals who went are still on a high from the night and are buzzing from it.”
