THE sold-out 2020 Support Homeless People Luncheon has been postponed in the interests of public health due to concerns over the potential spread of coronavirus.
More than 500 people were expected to attend the April 3 event at the Barn Palais, with the biennial event considered one of the Limestone Coast’s largest regular charity events.
The luncheon will now be held on Friday, October 9.
The organising committee has acted on the advice of the Australian Government after the event was sold-out with more than 500 people set to attend the major business networking luncheon and fundraiser.
“The safety and welfare of everyone involved and the people most vulnerable to the COVID-19 virus are our highest priority,” event chairman Barry Stafford said.
“On behalf of my committee, I thank the management of The Barn Palais, our speaker Melanie Cooper AM, emcee Rupert McCall OAM, our sponsors and the businesses who have purchased tables or provided auction and raffle donations for their understanding and support.
“Everything that makes this event so special will remain the same, including our keynote speaker Ms Cooper, emcee Mr McCall and the interstate tables committing to return – the only change is the date.”
The previous event in 2018 raised $125,000 to support ac.care’s services to support people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in the Limestone Coast.
