A UNIQUE fundraiser for bushfire affected areas will take place at the Penola Bowls Club tonight.
Penola and Coonawarra residents will have the opportunity to take a chance in a game of bingo on tonight night to support those in need.
Resident Yvonne Richardson developed the idea through her own love for the game.
Ms Richardson regularly travels to Mount Gambier to play the popular board game and said the event would be a good outing for many in the region.
All donations from the evening will be given to BlazeAid to further support those affected by recent bushfires.
“I had wanted to do a bingo fundraiser night for a while now,” Ms Richardson said.
“Once I saw what was happening with the fires, I knew I had to do something and it was the perfect opportunity.”
Ms Richardson selected BlazeAid, a volunteer-based organisation that works with families and individuals in rural areas to rebuild fences and other structures that have been damaged or destroyed.
“We chose bingo because I absolutely love it,” she said.
“It is an enjoyable night out and if you win things it is a real bonus.”
A number of prizes will be on offer for winners including wine, gift cards and more.
There will also be a raffle, lucky dips and entertaining games.
“I have spent a number of years volunteering with the Country Fire Service,” she said.
“I thought we will do our bit and help those in need.
“It is such a unique idea and such a fun thing to do with the added benefit of the evening helping out the community.”
The event will be held on Saturday from 6pm until 9pm.
