CONSTRUCTION has started on McCorquindale Park’s Rymill Hall upgrades, with the $150,000 project on track for a swift completion.
The hall will have a number of new additions, including a disabled toilet, baby change facilities and fire safety upgrades.
The entrance to the historical building will also be upgraded alongside a new paint job.
Penola Pastoral Agricultural and Horticultural Society president Kerry DeGaris said the major renovation works will bring the hall in line with current legislative standards.
“The main thing about the new upgrades at Rymill Hall for the show society is the new office and the upgraded toilet facilities which is fantastic,” she said.
“The upgrades will make the building a bit more of a usable space for us and the community.”
Ms DeGaris said the much-needed renovations would benefit show-goers during spring time and would help the society to work more efficiently.
“It will be easier to get in and out at the end of the day when prize winners come to collect their items and equipment,” she said.
“It will also make it easier for people to get in and out of the building as a whole.
“Because of the upgrades we have had to clear out a lot of things we no longer needed as we have had to move all of the possessions when moving offices.”
Currently the hall is closed to the public and is expected to reopen in mid-March.
