Wineries combine to support Country Fire Service Foundation

FUNDRAISING SUCCESS: Patrick of Coonawarra’s Natasha Gordon celebrates a successful month of fundraising with Ottelia and Fodder’s Matilda Innes.

TWO Coonawarra wineries have rallied together to raise more than $10,000 for the Country Fire Service Foundation.

Patrick of Coonawarra donated 50pc of its online sales to the foundation with Ottelia donating 20pc of all wine sales during January.

“We are all amazed and very happy with the results and we never thought we could raise so much in such a short amount of time,” Patrick of Coonawarra brand manager Natasha Gordon said.

“We are looking at how we can do more.

“Customers were really happy and we found a lot of them were also supporting the Adelaide Hills wineries.

Ottelia’s Matilda Innes said the final tally was yet to be determined, but praised community members for contributing to the cause.

“It is nice to know that we are able to help in any way that we can,” Ms Innes said.

“We have had positive feedback across the board from both regulars and visitors.

“Over the month of January we do see a lot more visitors than regulars and many have come from fire affected areas or have family in those areas.”

Ms Innes said the business was happy to help those affected by the catastrophic bushfires.

“We are feeling good about the efforts,” she said.

“It is nice to do something because you do sit here and feel a little bit helpless.

“We have been able to do our little bit and although it is not a lot in the grand scheme of things, it will help.”

The Country Fire Service Foundation provides financial help and care to volunteer firefighters and their families in the event of death, injury or loss of property while engaging in their community service.
