Bail conditions altered

A MOUNT Gambier man involved in a violent home invasion where shots were fired at a house in Port MacDonnell last year has had his home detention bail conditions altered.

Tyson Ronald James Ratcliffe, 34, appeared in the Mount Gambier Magistrates Court yesterday.

In a hearing last year, the prosecutor said Ratcliffe and co-accused Dermott Wayne Von Stanke, 23, allegedly arrived at the victim’s home with three other people in the early hours of July 27.

A gunshot was fired from their vehicle before three people entered the house and assaulted the occupant.

Following the assault, the group stole the victim’s Harley Davidson motorcycle and fled the scene.

The court has heard that Ratcliffe was one of the people who waited outside the house while the assault took place.

The prosecution said ammunition was located in a vehicle, which belonged to Ratcliffe.

Magistrate Teresa Anderson granted the defendant home detention bail on August 15.

In yesterday’s hearing, Magistrate Panagiotidis revealed Ratcliffe had been compliant with bail conditions and altered the defendant’s bail, allowing him to leave his home address.

The court heard Ratcliffe would continue to be electronically monitored and charge his tracking device daily, reside at his original address, attend counselling, not consume alcohol or drugs and be subject to testing and follow firearms protocols and gunshot residue testing.

Ratcliffe is also forbidden to possess a mobile phone or device, not make contact with the co-accused and not to enter the township of Port MacDonnell.

The defendant will appear again in court on March 23.
