RED Cross Limestone Coast regional services manager David Walshaw appreciated receiving more than $800 from Millicent business Ignition Fitness to support Red Cross’ recovery and outreach services following the devastating fires in Cudlee Creek, Kangaroo Island and Keilira.
Mr Walshaw thanked Ignition Fitness proprietor Adam Wiese for his work in initiating the response and stressed that all donated funds would be spent in South Australia.
“We are also aware that many other community groups are raising money through their own fundraising efforts to support local initiatives,” Mr Walshaw said.
“This is just another example of how people want to help the recovery efforts that are currently under way.
“We have not seen fires such as these on such a large scale before and the recovery and outreach services are going to be enormous so every dollar goes some way to meeting those costs.
“I would also like to praise the local Limestone Coast community following a call for help for people to knit more trauma teddies as Red Cross had exhausted all of our supplies in the fire ravaged areas of Australia.
“As a result, in just over five days, we have almost had 400 knitted by concerned community groups and individuals and they will be on their way to affected communities across Australia.”
Mr Wiese thanked his clients and staff for supporting the Red Cross appeal.
