Millicent and District stadium vision

BEST SEATS IN THE HOUSE: A design blueprint of the viewing deck and clubrooms at the Peter Seebohm Stadium in Millicent.

THE Millicent and District International Basketball Association has revealed plans of a $600,000 clubroom overhaul, including a state-of-the-art viewing deck which would be a first for the Limestone Coast.

The association is currently sourcing funding for the project through government grants and crowdfunding to complete the overhaul of The Peter Seebohm Stadium at McLaughlin Park.

The viewing deck is designed for spectators to be able to see all three courts simultaneously, providing a unique vantage point for local competition and major tournaments.

Association president Peter Seebohm also said the viewing deck and clubrooms would feature disabled access and provide a place for spectators to watch the games in comfort.

“The facility will include a kitchen, bar and amenities while allowing you a great view of any court,” he said.

Mr Seebohm believes there will also be added incentive for visitors and locals to socialise and for club members and players to enjoy a greater level of hospitality.

The association currently attracts players from Beachport, Penola and Robe to take advantage of the facilities already on offer.

Its annual junior basketball tournament attracts hundreds of visitors across the Limestone Coast, from Adelaide and also Western Victoria.

The association’s crowdfunding campaign has been launched through the Australian Sports Foundation, seeking $30,000 with all donations over $2 tax deductible.

Donors can also purchase incentives including a donation of $200 resulting in their name on a chair and $500 to feature their name on a window on the main court.

With the addition of the viewing deck, the Millicent stadium would be one of the most modern and well-equipped in the state, with only Mount Barker, Kadina and Port Augusta having viewing decks in regional South
Australia.
