A MILLICENT hotel will undergo another change of name.
After a few decades as the Sportsmans Hotel or “Sporties”, it will be re-named “The George”.
This is a reference to its location on George Street which, in turn, honours pioneering farmer George Glen, of Mayura Station.
The licensed premises opened in 1876 and have also been known by other names including “Tantrams”, “Reillys”, “Nenkes” and the “Millicent Hotel”.
In other Millicent hospitality industry news, the lease of the Grand Hotel is back on the market through an Adelaide hotel broker.
The stock-exclusive price is $99,000.
The George Street hotel has recently reopened its upstairs accommodation to the public.
