SHOP LOCALLY: Shopping locally proved lucky for Mount Gambier resident Annette Clarke who recently purchased a $50 gift card from Intersport Mount Gambier and won a $500 Bendigo Community Bank account as one of the first winners of the Bendigo Community Bank $8000 Christmas Cracker Giveaway competition. SHOPPING local has paid dividends for two Limestone Coast residents who were yesterday announced as the first weekly winners of the 2019 Bendigo Bank $8000 Christmas Cracker Giveaway.

Mount Gambier residents Daphne Hunt and Annette Clarke both pocketed a $500 bank account following this week’s draw.

Shopping at DJ Interiors and Intersport Mount Gambier respectively, both were “over the moon” about their windfall.

Ms Hunt said it was a pleasant surprise as she did not win prizes often.

“It has come at a great time as we are coming up to Christmas,” Ms Hunt said.

“I have grandchildren so it will be good to have a bit of extra cash.”

Ms Hunt said she supported the competition as it encouraged people to shop local.

“You have to be in it to win it, so why would you not enter?” she said.

“I actually bought a scarf from DJ’s which is now my lucky scarf.”

Ms Clarke’s win followed the purchase of a voucher for her grandson, a gift that has now given back.

“People always tell me I am lucky, but when I ask them they never enter the raffles or competitions.”

DJ Interiors owner Christine Try said the store was getting a great response from people entering the competition.

“They seem to appreciate the free entry which is available to them no matter how much money they spend.

“We are very happy the winner was drawn from our shop and as staff we get a great buzz from it all.”
