MILLICENT cook Melissa Armfield has again helped seniors cook up a storm for Wattle Range Council’s Celebrate Seniors Month.

For the second consecutive year, the Shearer’s Cook Café proprietor staged a cooking class in the Millicent High School’s home economics kitchens.

Around 30 older men and women took the opportunity on Thursday to brush up on their culinary skills.

Ms Armfield said the 2019 class took a different approach to last year.

“Last year, it was more of a demonstration by me,” Ms Armfield said.

“This year it is more about a hands-on experience.

“We have prepared zucchini and pea soup, macaroni cheese bake and Welsh rarebit toast.”

Among the enthusiastic participants was Valda Schulz who described it as “fun”.

“I have gone to lots of Seniors Month events,” Ms Schultz said.

“It is a fantastic effort by Wattle Range Council to arrange the Seniors Month program.”
