WINE ON SHOWCASE: Judges Dimi Capone, Michelle Bouffard, Samantha Connew and Cliff Royal visit Wynn’s Coonawarra as part of a regional tour in the lead-up to the Limestone Coast Wine Show.

JUDGING for the 19th annual Limestone Coast Wine Show will wrap up today, with almost 500 varieties sampled over the two-day process.

Taking place in Coonawarra Hall, judges have tasted and scored 496 wines submitted by 79 producers representing all seven Limestone Coast wine regions.

Guest international judge Michelle Bouffard travelled from Montreal in Canada to tour the region’s wineries and vineyards ahead of the show.

Committee member Alice Davidson said Ms Bouffard’s visit was a wonderful opportunity for the region to increase its overseas exposure.

“Ms Bouffard is a high-profile wine communicator and wishes to discover the depth of what the Limestone Coast has to offer,” Ms Davidson said.

“We are thrilled that she has arrived early before judging to take in as much of the region as possible.”

Three panels, led by chief of judges Samantha Connew, will determine trophy winners, which will be announced tomorrrow night at a celebratory dinner at Rymill Hall.

The dinner will also feature a special presentation from 2018 winner Arthur Hoffmann Trophy for viticulturist of best wine of show, Tim McCarthy.

All wine entries will be uncorked at the Coonawarra Hall on Friday morning for an exhibitors and public tasting.

The doors will open at 11.30am with tickets $15.
