PAVING work at the Penola Town Square could continue this week with the arrival of warmer weather.
Only 14 pavers are yet to be installed by Penola Lions Club members, with dry weather needed to apply a sealer.
Penola Town Square working group chairperson Catherine Robinson said a delivery of more pavers was expected to bring the project closer to completion.
The committee will also install speakers at the town square for major public events, as well as more tables and light panels for the entrance.
“We are also looking into having a sculpture within the area,” Ms Robinson said, highlight a preference for a local artist.
“But we also want it to be the type of sculpture that people can take a photo with.”
Penola Lions Club secretary Mick Matuschka said the service group’s involvement in the project had been positive for its membership.
“We have put a lot into the town square pavers,” Mr Matuschka said.
“And we are almost complete on that side of things which is fantastic.”
Mr Matuschka said club members were starting to “come out of hibernation” as the Penola Show approaches.
“We will be doing our barbeque on the Friday night and we will also have the Leo club with us to sell soft drinks and bottles of water,” the secretary said.
“We continue to give back to the community and after our involvement with the town square and Pinchunga’s garden, we have also given a number of smaller donations to the school and other local causes.”
The club will meet tomorrow with two new members expected to be inducted, along with a visit from the Lions Club district governor.
