Cattle ramp shut down

Closed Down TBW Newsgroup
CLOSED: An “out of order” sign now appears on a loading ramp at the Glenburnie Saleyards.

ONE of the loading ramps at the Glenburnie Saleyards has been closed amid ongoing safety concerns.

Grant District Council acting chief executive officer Jane Fetherstonhaugh has instructed the closure of the cattle loading and unloading facility.”

“I have instructed our manager to close the ramp until further notice as I am not satisfied with the current safety measures in place,” Ms Fetherstonhaugh said.

“This is an ongoing matter which I was told had been resolved and have just been made aware that this is not the case.”

The ramp has been under investigation by SafeWork SA and the SA Ombudsman since October last year.

Ramp C was closed during Wednesday’s busy market day at the livestock exchange.
